Honolulu Bus Schedules Will Be Updated Live On New Signs |

| Honolulu Rail Transit System Electronic signs will show updates for the bus transit system here in state of Hawaii. According to the Honolulu Advertiser website the city will install electronic signs at various key points and Handi-Van spots around the islands large bus routes. These electronic signs will update the frequetn and occasional travelers about valuable information about the bus schedule in real time. Sort of like a text message system that is connected to the stop signs. "These will be message signs," said Roger Burke, chief of the city Public Transit Division. "It could be a real-time update. For the Handi-van, it could be, 'Mrs. Smith, your van will arrive (shortly).' " Officials said the signs are designed to complement myriad improvements the city is instituting for the bus system, whose ridership has spiked in recent months as gas prices rose. |
